Tuningi Safari Lodge is a stunning exclusive game lodge set in a valley in western section of Madikwe. The Tuningi Safari Lodge, situated in the world renowned Big 5, malaria-free, Madikwe Game Reserve, proudly showcases this protected areas African success story in magnificent style! For those with a wider budget, and wish to experience an exhilarating fly-in safari, Federal Air operates scheduled 45 minute charters from OR Tambo to Madikwe Game Reserve’s airstrip. The Tuningi Safari Lodge provide morning and afternoon/evening game–drives in open game-viewing vehicles, accompanied by informed and professional game rangers.

Facilities & Activities:
Tuningi Safari Lodge´s main reception area includes indoor and outdoor lounges, a diningroom and wrap around viewing deck with a rim-flow pool. The main entertainment and reception area of the lodge overlooks a waterhole that provides fantastic game viewing from the safety of an expansive wooden deck. The rim-flow pool and gorgeous lounges give the lodge a sumptuous and welcoming feel. Guests at Tuningi can indulge in an array of pampering massage treatments or manicures or pedicure in the comfort of their suite or on their private secluded deck. This is the perfect way to round-off your African Safari. This lovely lodge is specifically designed for families and caters for children of all ages. The knowledgeable game rangers will take you on a journey in one of our open 4×4 vehicles or for the even more adventurous, on a safari by foot. Explore the world of the Big Five and a variety of other mammals; an open- top 4×4 vehicle allows for some incredible sightings.

Rooms & Suites
Tuningi accommodates 16 people in elegant free standing rooms that all have enormous bathrooms, outside showers, fireplaces and fabulous wooden decks. The rooms are set apart from each other to provide ultimate privacy and peace. The family units consist of two double bedrooms with an adjoining living and dining area. The entire lodge has a Colonial African feel and is stylish and comfortable. Accommodation at Tuningi consist ofeight luxury Suites (four stand-alone & two family units). “Little Tuningi” is a part of the main lodge but can be booked as stand-alone accommodation. It has a double room and a family unit as well as a private pool and boma (for outdoor meals around the fire). “Little Tuningi” accommodates only 6 (six) guests in unsurpassed luxury with a designer kitchen, dining room, lounge, wrap around wooden deck and private pool. Purposely designed, “Little Tuningi” is completely self-contained for those guests that are in search of ultimate privacy. Guests do of course have access to the Main Lodge area and its facilities. All rooms at Tuningi and ‘Little Tuningi” have air conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms, beautifully appointed baths, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around wooden decks. The design brief was to create space by blending interiors with the bush through utilising retractable doors and windows wherever possible.

Dininng
Every meal at Tuningi is the ultimate indulgence… varied, unique, beautifully presented and delicious. Meals are served in the cosy dining room or in the unique boma perfectly set under an old Fig Tree overlooking a very active waterhole. After a morning of sensational game viewing, guests are treated to a hearty brunch consisting of fruits, eggs, cheeses, and cereals – all freshly prepared and sumptuous.
Lunch too is enjoyed under the giant Fig Tree, where guests can relax and revel in the animals joining them at the waterhole – some amazing game viewing without even leaving the odge. As night sets in, lanterns and candles are lit and the mood goes from bush to baroque. Guests return from their game drive to be presented with a bush extravaganza dinner, prepared by Tuningi’s Executive Chef, in the boma with a blazing log fire to keep them warm.
The boma is a truly memorable way to experience an evening under the African night sky. This is the only meal you will share with the other guests in camp. Here you will indulge in fine cuisine and superb wines, from the extensive cellar, while sitting near a warm, crackling fire. This is the perfect opportunity to reminisce, share and discuss the days sightings and experiences.
End off the evening with a sumptuous dessert and a nightcap before bidding farewell to the simmering fire to the calling of your suite.
