The first luxury resort to the South of the equator and one of the biggest resort islands, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives opened in 2009. Villas:
Seven distinctly styled villas are each equipped with modern conveniences and luxurious amenities. These Maldivian luxury homes exude a sense of serenity, with touches of Middle Eastern and Indian elements in the décor. Pool Villas are surrounded by a lush forest and offer views of the gentle rolling ocean with a private pool, terrace and open-air shower. Water Villas are built on stilts in the resort’s lagoon. Connected to the island by a timber walkway, each Water Villa has an open and airy atmosphere. Luxurious and spacious Beach Villas provide access to a white-sand beach. Entry is via a thatched-roof gate to a landscaped courtyard leading to the rustic timber door of the villa’s entrance. Every Beach Villa features a private terrace leading to the beach. Tree House Villas are secluded, private island hideaways perched on stilts among the treetops and set over three separate pavilions.

Six restaurants and bars of the resort appeal to every taste. Dr. Ali’s leads the restaurant selection with three distinctive living rooms that focus on fine cuisine from the Indian Ocean, the South China Sea and the Arabian Gulf. For quality café dining during the day and refined Western fare in the evening, Javvu will delight guests. Fashala lounge offers stunning views of the ocean and gourmet dishes created with local ingredients many of which come from the Chef’s Garden on the island.
