Perched on a hillside in a secluded region of the Bhutan Kingdom overlooking a snake-like bend in the Mo Chu river, COMO Uma Punakha is an intimate, luxury lodge located at the far western end of the lush Punakha Valley. Boasting spectacular views over a lush, bright green valley and rice paddies in the smallest landlocked state in Asia, COMO Uma Punakha is an incredible destination. Uma Punakha is ideally located for those who wish to explore this remote Himalayan Kingdom. Its ideal location offers easy access to nearby attractions, about a 20 minute drive to Punakha Dzong.

Facilities & Activities:
There is a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities that are suited for everyone who visits Bhutan. COMO Uma Punakha is a fantastic base for adventurers. Hiking, white water rafting and cycling are all activities available through Uma. Nearby attractions like Punakha Dzong (a temple complex) and the Divine Madman’s Temple are also easily accessible from Uma. Despite its small size, Uma Punakha still has a COMO Shambhala spa offering traditional holistic therapies such as hot stone baths to relax after time exploring the valley. The Uma Punakha has one restaurant with options to eat outside on the terrace with spectacular views. There is complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, laundry and pressing services and babysitting is available upon request.

With just 11 rooms, set in the thick wilderness for the ultimate relaxing getaway, COMO Uma Punakha is cozy and intimate. All rooms have dramatic views overlooking the Punakha valley, and the Mo Chu as it winds its way through the rice fields and orchards, and the rolling forested mountains beyond. Natural light submerges the interior rooms through floor-to-ceiling windows. Uma Punakha includes several inviting room features for each guest, which includes air-conditioning, Egyptian cotton sheets, complimentary bottled water, an electronic personal safe, a minibar, coffee and tea-making facilities, umbrellas, yoga mats, hairdryers, bathroom amenities, and Wi-Fi access.

Dining:
Uma Punakha has one restaurant. Bukhari, named for a Bhutanese fireplace is one of the best restaurants in Bhutan. The Bukhari which serves both local and international cuisine and presided over by the Indonesian head chef Dewa Wijaya. Much of the produce comes from local farmers which means we benefit from fresh vegetable, fruit and dairy products every day. Guest loved the little terrace, where you have the option of eating al fresco on warmer evenings. When it is colder, they can set up heaters right next to your table, or you can retreat to the inner dining room.
