It is one of the world’s most splendid hotels, The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Built in 1869 and named Villa Soleil, it was intended as a haven for writers starved of inspiration. By 1887 it had adopted its current name and was set to become the hotel that turned the French Riviera into a summertime destination. The Hotel is for sure one of the most luxury hotel on the French Riviera. The Hotel is located on a quiet road at the rocky tip of Cap d’Antibes, the hotel is a 10-minute drive to the Musée Picasso in the Château Grimaldi. It is 30 minutes by car to Cannes and 35 minutes to Nice. The main hotel, a Napoleon III château, is located on the southern tip of the Cap d’Antibes in 22 acres of pine trees and tropical gardens. It houses 117 suites. In addition, there are two private villas, the Villa Eleana (in front of the property) and the Villa Les Cèdres (in the property). A Guests included Marlene Dietrich, Orson Welles, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Winston Churchill and Charles De Gaulle. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton conducted an affair and honeymooned there. The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc belongs to the Oetker Collection.
